Acclaimed South Korean director Na Hong-jin officially unveiled the teaser for his highly anticipated sci-fi thriller, Hope, on May 16, 2026.
The film recently received a spectacular seven-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival, instantly cementing itself as one of this year’s most discussed competition titles. Hope features a powerhouse international ensemble cast, including Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, Jung Ho-yeon, Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander, Taylor Russell, and Cameron Britton.
Inside the Story
Set in the remote South Korean village of Hope Harbour near the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), the film follows police chief Bum-seok and Officer Ae as they investigate a mysterious presence linked to brutal deaths and widespread destruction across the isolated community.
What initially begins as a terrifying suspected tiger attack quickly escalates into a violent confrontation involving extraterrestrial beings. These alien creatures are stranded on Earth after losing their home planet. As hunters guided by Sung-ki venture into the dense, dark forests to track the creature, they quickly realize they have become the targets.
The gripping teaser reveals scary woodlands, mutilated villages, and large-scale chase scenes involving cars, horses, and terrifying alien entities. The footage heavily emphasizes the film’s dark, suffocating atmosphere and survival-driven narrative.
