Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Prison Sentence Reduced Again

The release date for imprisoned rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has been moved up yet again. According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons website, February 23, 2028, is now stamped as the day the fallen hip-hop star will leave federal lockup in New Jersey. Combs was sentenced to 50 months in prison last year for Mann Act violations.

This updated release date marks the second time Combs’ prison exit has been revised. Meanwhile, his defense attorneys continue to appeal the guilty verdict he received at his jury trial last summer on two counts of transportation for prostitution. The new February date is four months earlier than his original release date of June 4, 2028, and a few weeks ahead of his recently adjusted date of April 15, 2028.

The ’90s and 2000s rap power player likely entered a drug rehabilitation facility shortly after beginning his sentence at New Jersey’s Fort Dix Federal Prison. It appears he is taking advantage of opportunities to shave time off his sentence by working through the system’s programs. While it remains unconfirmed whether Combs entered rehab behind bars, his sentence reductions are entirely consistent with such programs.

“Mr. Combs is an active participant in the Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) and has taken his rehabilitation process seriously from the start,” his legal team stated. “He is fully engaged in his work, focused on growth, and committed to positive change.”

The Grammy winner’s lawyers appealed his July 2025 conviction and sentencing last December, continuing their fight with a subsequent filing in March. Federal prosecutors, meanwhile, are urging the court to reject the appeal, which remains pending. Combs was originally arrested in September 2024 and indicted on charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Following a lengthy trial, he was acquitted of the most serious charges.
